Two of my posts made it to there. One was a straight pipe Murcielago, the other was about an F1 car blowing some woman's hat off. . . both were really short articles. . .

I wrote a one-paragraph post about the McLaren P1 setting a lap time at the Nurburgring (with a source) and it got to the front page. I can't find it now, though. :(

Be interesting.
Don't stir shit up, Jalopnik Eds can do that on their own without help (I say that with love guys)
Be thoughtful, pick a topic that is going to make people reply and encourage discussion. Run in through all the grammar filters known to mankind too. Don't add fluff or BS or use a 'voice' that doesn't fit how you would normally write. Just be...honest?
I've had a few thrown on FP, the last one was more or less a semi-cohesive rambling about how I got into photographing supercars. So I nailed the topic, supercars (who doesn't love those?), I had pictures to go along with my walls of text, I had some personal insight and honest to goodness, no BS writing style.
If you want an example of how not to do it, search up His Stigness and his posts which on a good day are nothing more than poorly researched crap.
That is the other big thing. If you're gonna have numbers, try and make them factual. Do some searching, be thorough in that.
We like seeing people go on the FP for great work, great content only drives better discussions.
